Coan Oil's team of comfort specialists provides expert service to both homes and businesses throughout our service area. Our technicians are trained on systems of all types and sizes, and we install and service equipment from the small home furnace to large commercial boilers. 

We're Available 24 Hours a Day

Heat outages can occur at any time of day or night, and Coan Oil is always available to respond. We recognize the stress and risk that a nighttime outage causes, and our customers can rest assured that we will respond promptly when they call. 

However, before you call us, perform the following steps:

1. Check the thermostat. Set the thermostat 5 degrees above the room temperature. If it is clock thermostat, be sure the timer is set correctly or place it in manual mode.
2. Check electric switches. Make sure the emergency switch is on as well as all on/off switches at the heating unit.
3. Check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers. Replace a blown fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
4. Check the oil tank gauge. Make sure there is oil in the tank.
5. Push the Red Reset Button ONE TIME ONLY. The reset button is usually a red colored button next to the burner. If the burner only runs for a minute or two, do not press the reset button again.

If the heating system still does not operate, then call us at 800-262-6462, 24 hours a day for emergency service.

We strive to provide the same excellent service at 3 a.m. that we offer at 3 p.m., so we make sure every service vehicle is fully stocked with thousands of dollars of replacement parts. That way, we can fix a problem in one visit, so you don't have to wait any longer than necessary to have your heat restored. 

Your Supply Is Assured, Because We Store Our Own Fuel

You can count on Coan Oil for a reliable oil supply in all circumstances. That’s because we maintain about one million gallons of independent fuel storage at our facilities in Natick, and we partner with terminals throughout Metrowest to assure your supply. 

If you're not sure why this matters to you, imagine what might happen if there was a major supply interruption due to a natural disaster or other calamity. Supplies might be severely restricted or even rationed, and prices could go through the roof. But as a Coan Oil customer, you would continue to receive your oil on time with no price gouging. 

Many oil companies - particularly the lowest-priced ones - lack our resources and manage their oil supply very differently. They maintain no independent oil storage at all, and they send their trucks to a wholesale terminal every time they need a new load. Customers who rely on companies with no storage are unprotected in a calamity. If their company can't get any oil, they can't get any oil. If their company has to pay more for oil in a shortage, their customers pay more for oil. 

It's one more way that we outperform the competition and deliver the level of reliability that our customers count on. 

Automatic Delivery Is Free and Easy

We strongly encourage our customers to choose Automatic Delivery of their heating oil. When you "go automatic" Coan Oil will keep track of your oil and automatically make a delivery when your oil is low. You get the same price that you'd get if you were calling for every delivery. 

As an Automatic Delivery customer, you are also eligible for valuable extras like price protection and service plans. 

Automatic delivery has another small benefit that most people don't know about. Every customer that lets Coan Oil control their delivery is supporting efficient fuel delivery, because we plan our delivery routes to minimize our driving distance whenever possible. That means we're using less truck fuel, which keeps our overhead down and minimizes engine emissions. We pass those savings on to all our customers in our pricing.

While we encourage automatic delivery, we do not insist on it. We appreciate good customers of all types, and if calling for every delivery is your preferred MO, we're happy to oblige.

Periodic Tune-Ups

Every Oilheat system in our part of the country should be tuned up periodically. Tuning delivers three important benefits:

• Your system runs more efficiently. Periodic tuning generally improves fuel efficiency by 5 percent. In many homes, the fuel savings exceed the cost of the tune-up.
• Your system is less likely to break down. If we catch a problem early, we can often prevent a heat outage, or worse, an expensive repair.
• Your equipment lasts longer.

*Enrollment in automatic delivery does not necessarily guarantee the home's tank will never run empty. All customers should periodically check their tank's fuel level and call Coan Oil immediately if the tank ever becomes less than one-quarter full. Customers should also report any change in typical home activity that may necessitate additional deliveries, such as, but not limited to: the arrival of a newborn, one or more persons moving in, children returning home from college, or house guests staying over for an extended period. Automatic delivery service may be interrupted by floods, snowstorms, acts of God, and other circumstances beyond Coan Oil's control.
