Dogs may give us comfort but they need comfort, too. And that includes air conditioning. Because dogs cannot sweat like humans, fans alone do not cool them down. Without A/C, they are at risk of heatstroke. Signs of heatstroke in dogs include heavy panting, excessive drooling, glazed eyes, or staggering.
Here’s some advice to keep your pet cool indoors during the hot weather:

Maintain indoor temperatures between 70°F and 78°F to keep your pooch safe and comfortable.

Short-nosed breeds like pugs and bulldogs, senior dogs, and thick-coated dogs are highly susceptible to overheating and require air conditioning.

Very hardy breeds can tolerate temperatures up to 80°F provided there is good ventilation.

Keep cool, clean water available at all times.

Walk the dog only in the early morning or late evening when the temperature drops.

Brush your dog’s coat regularly to remove excess fur, but do not shave your dog — their coat protects against overheating
